MongoDB Partners with AICTE to Upskill 500,000 Students in India
MongoDB has announced an expansion of its MongoDB for Academia initiative in India, forging a new partnership with the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), under the Ministry of Education. This collaboration will be bolstered by SmartBridge’s SmartInternz platform, which aims to provide over 150,000 Indian students with access to virtual internships and the skills needed to master MongoDB Atlas, the leading multi-cloud developer data platform.
In addition to the AICTE partnership, MongoDB has also teamed up with GeeksforGeeks, a prominent platform for computer science resources in India. This partnership will offer the MongoDB Developer Learning Path to GeeksforGeeks’ 25 million registered users.
Launched in September 2023, MongoDB for Academia supports students and educators with training, curriculum resources, free MongoDB technology credits, and certification opportunities. This program is crucial for addressing the skills gap in India’s tech sector, where there is a significant demand for developers skilled in modern technologies and artificial intelligence. The National Association of Software and Service Companies projects that India will need over one million engineers with advanced AI skills in the next three years and around six million digital roles by 2028, with a talent gap of 1.3 million.
Dr. Buddha Chandrasekhar, CEO of Anuvadini AI and Chief Coordinating Officer, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Ministry of Education while exclusively interacting with ObserveNow stated, “In India, we have a massive opportunity with the current wave of AI and modern technologies that will transform our lives and economy in the coming years. But to take advantage of that opportunity, it is vital our developers have the right skills. We’re excited to partner with MongoDB to help make that possible.”
The MongoDB for Academia initiative will align with the Indian government’s Skill India Initiative, providing full-stack development skills through 60-hour virtual internships that include experiential learning, hands-on bootcamps, and simulated corporate environments.
The new collaboration with GeeksforGeeks will further extend the program’s reach, providing full-stack development courses to learners across India, both online and at GeeksforGeeks centers. This partnership is expected to benefit over 100,000 aspiring developers.
