Regional Conference on e-Governance to Commence in Guwahati

New Delhi: Gulab Chand Kataria, Governor of Assam, is set to inaugurate the two-day Regional Conference on “e-Governance” in Guwahati tomorrow. The event, organized by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) in collaboration with the Government of Assam, will witness the participation of Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh, among other dignitaries.

Taking place on January 9-10, 2024, this marks the 26th Regional Conference convened by DARPG from 2014-2024, involving eight North Eastern states and four Eastern region states. The conference will focus on e-Governance, showcasing award-winning initiatives under the National e-Governance Awards Scheme, 2023.

Key figures such as Paban Kumar Borthakur, Chief Secretary, Government of Assam, and V. Srinivas, Secretary, DARPG, will address the inaugural session. The event will also witness the release of a booklet on the journey of 25 Regional Conferences and an e-journal on e-Governance Initiatives.

The conference will feature seven sessions covering various topics, with Puneet Yadav, Joint Secretary, DARPG, GOI, chairing the first session on the “Unified Service Delivery Portal.” Notable discussions include e-Governance Awarded Initiatives 2022 and Best Practices of the Government of Assam.

On Day 2, the focus will shift to district-level initiatives in e-Governance, chaired by Shri NBS Rajput, Joint Secretary, DARPG, GOI. Award-winning initiatives and best practices will be highlighted, contributing to the overarching goal of bringing national and state-level public administration organizations together to share innovative experiences.

The conference aims to enhance public solutions, improve the quality of life, and foster good governance in the realms of e-governance and Digital Governance.

Major reshuffle in Rajasthan Administration, 70+ IAS Officers Transferred

New Delhi: After the elections in Rajasthan, a major reshuffle was witnessed in the administration of Rajasthan. According to an official order released, more than 70 IAS Officers have been transferred and appointed to new roles. Details of a few major appointments are below:

Prakash Chandra Sharma IAS (Rajasthan 2010) Collector & District Magistrate, Banswara, has been transferred and appointed as Executive Director, Rajasthan Urban Drinking Water Sewerage And Infrastructure Corporation Limited (Rudsico) And Project Director, Rajasthan Urban Infrastructure Development Project (Ruidp), Jaipur.

Rajendra Vijay IAS (Rajasthan 2010) Collector & District Magistrate, Balotra, has been transferred and appointed as Special Secretary To Government, Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department, Rajasthan, Jaipur.

BPCLs #SilentVoices Initiative: Transforming Fuel Stations with Inclusivity and Diverse Partnership

Mumbai: In commemoration of India’s 77th Independence Day, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has unveiled the “#SilentVoices” Initiative on August 15, 2023. Within a brief span of three months, this initiative dedicated to empowering differently-abled individuals has achieved remarkable success, integrating over 100 BPCL Fuel Stations across India with a diverse and inclusive workforce.

In a noteworthy development towards this philanthropic cause, BPCL has officially announced the signing of two Memorandum of Understanding (MOUs) on December 29, 2023:

Railway Board Appoints Aruna Nayar as Secretary

New Delhi: Aruna Nayar, Indian Railway Personnel Service (IRPS) Officer of 1987 Batch and Level-16 empanelled IRMS officer has been appointed as Secretary, Railway Board and taken over charge on 06.01.2024.   She was earlier functioning in Railway Board as Additional Member, Staff since May, 2023 and as Principal Executive Director/Staff, Railway Board from Feb, 2022 to May, 2023.  The Appointments Committee of Cabinet on 05.01.2024 appointed her as Secretary, Railway Board in IRMS Level-16.  Nayar is also the first IRPS officer to be empanelled in IRMS in Level-16.  

Aruna Nayar has vast experience in various capacities in Railways and worked as Principal Chief Personnel Officer (PCPO) in Eastern Railway, Dy. CPO, Metro Railway/Kolkata, PCPO in Southern Railway and in other capacities in Railway Recruitment Board (Chennai), Railway Divisions of Chennai &  Palghat and Golden Rock Workshop & Division at Tiruchirapalli.  Ms. Nayar had also worked as Director (Pers), in Department of Information Technology, Ministry of Communications & IT under the Central Staffing Scheme from 2005 to 2009.

Aruna Nayar has done her Bachelors from St. Stephens College, Delhi University & Masters from Delhi University and Masters in Public Policy from Australian National University in 2009 as part of in service training.

NSDC launches “Guru ka Samman” Event in Goa

New Delhi: National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC)  announced the successful launch of its Skill Development Initiatives and the “Guru ka Samman” event in Goa, as revealed on their official LinkedIn handle.


The ceremony was graced by the esteemed presence of Dr. Pramod Sawant, Chief Minister and Minister for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (SDE) of the Government of Goa, along with Shri. Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Union Minister of State for Electronics & Information Technology, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, and Jal-Shakti for the Government of India. 


The event celebrated the felicitation of more than 35 Gurus and the formal inauguration of 9 centers under the PM Vishwakarma scheme. Noteworthy was the exchange of 9 significant Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) between NSDC and various industries, underscoring the strong commitment to furthering skill development through collaborative efforts.

NHPC signs MoU with Gujarat Power Corporation for 750 MW Kuppa Pumped Hydro Storage Project

New Delhi: In a stride towards sustainable energy, NHPC has inked an MoU with Gujarat Power Corporation Limited, Government of Gujarat, to invest approximately Rs. 4000 crores in the proposed 750 MW Kuppa Pumped Hydro Storage Project in Chhota Udaipur, Gujarat. 

The strategic partnership aims to leverage pumped hydro storage as a solution for energy storage, fostering employment opportunities and stimulating the local economy. 

The signing took place during the “Vibrant Gujarat” event on January 3, 2023, in the presence of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Energy Minister Kanubhai Desai, aligning with the national goal of achieving 500 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030 and a “Net Zero” target by 2070.

Government Unveils Major Administrative Reshuffle in Telangana

New Delhi: In a significant development, the Telangana state government has announced a comprehensive reshuffling of top administrative positions, impacting key departments and roles.

Rahul Bojja IAS (Telangana 2000), who was serving as Secretary of the General Administration Department, will now lead the Irrigation & CAD Department, bringing his extensive experience to bear on critical water management issues.

Smita Sabharwal IAS (Telangana 2001), previously serving as Secretary to the Chief Minister, will now serve as the Member Secretary of the Telangana Finance Commission, bringing her administrative acumen to financial planning and governance.

Harichandana Dasari IAS (Telangana 2010), the former Director of Municipal Administration and State Nodal Officer, Prajavani, has been appointed as the Collector and District Magistrate of Nalgonda, ushering in her expertise in municipal affairs to the district level.

Bharati Hollikeri IAS (Telangana 2010), previously awaiting a posting, has been entrusted with the role of Director of Archaeology, succeeding Shailaja Ramaiyer, IAS (1997), in a move expected to bolster heritage and cultural preservation efforts.

Aisha Masrat Khanam IAS (Telangana 2015), the former Joint Secretary of PR & RD Department, is set to take charge as Secretary of the TS Minorities Residential Educational Institutions Society, demonstrating the government’s commitment to minority education.

S Sangeetha Satyanarayana IAS (Telangana 2015), currently Managing Director of TS Foods, has been reassigned to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) as Joint Secretary, showcasing the government’s focus on strategic roles.

Abhilasha Abhinav IAS (Telangana 2018), eagerly awaiting a posting, is slated to take on the role of Zonal Commissioner at the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), reinforcing the administration’s focus on urban development.

This extensive administrative reshuffle reflects the state’s commitment to optimizing governance and leveraging the expertise of its officers for effective and efficient administration across various sectors.

MeitY launches ERNET India’s web portal for domain registration, DNS, and value-added services for educational institutions

New Delhi: Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY) Secretary Shri S Krishnan launched ERNET India’s newly developed integrated web portal for educational institutes in the country, at its head office here today. The portal will offer domain registration, DNS and value-added services viz. Website as a Service (WaaS) and Learning Management as a Service (LMaaS). 

 

The users can select from the variety of available templates for schools, colleges, universities as per their requirement and create their own website and Learning Management System. The user can publish the website and LMS by customizing the template with single click. This web portal has been developed utilizing open-source software and emerging technologies such as AI/ML.

 

Besides, Secretary, MeitY Shri S Krishnan also inaugurated new conference hall of ERNET India and interacted with officers and staff. 

 

The ERNET India is a not-for-profit scientific society under MeitY. It is the exclusive domain registrar for all the education & research institutes having ‘ac.in’, ‘edu.in’ & ‘res.in’ as domain name. In addition, ERNET India is providing web accessibility service, campus Wi-Fi services, smart classrooms and connectivity through Terrestrial and Satellite based systems to the educational & research institutes in the country.  It is also in the field of establishing data centers.

NSDC and Coal India Limited Collaborate to Establish MSDIs Nationwide

New Delhi: In a strategic move towards empowering local communities, NSDC has partnered with Coal India Limited to set up MSDIs in all its subsidiaries. The initiative begins with the launch of state-of-the-art training centers at Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) and BHARAT COKING COAL LIMITED (BCCL) in Jharkhand. The subsequent phases will witness MSDIs at South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), and Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL).

Focused on equipping youth with diverse skills directly within operational coalfields, this collaboration aims to curb distant migration while fostering local development.

By bringing relevant skills to the doorstep of communities, the partnership seeks to empower youth and marginalized sections. The commitment to making this initiative a success reflects a joint effort towards building a skilled and self-reliant workforce in the coal mining sector.
