Alok Sharma Appointed Director (R&D) at Indian Oil Corporation Limited

New Delhi: In a recent announcement Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) revealed that Alok Sharma has assumed the role of Director (Research & Development). Prior to this appointment, Sharma served as the Executive Director at the Centre for High Technology under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG).

Sharma, a postgraduate engineer in Chemical Engineering from IIT-Delhi and a graduate from Gujarat University, played a crucial role in his previous position, where he coordinated activities related to refining, petrochemicals, and alternative solutions for the oil and gas industry across India.

Throughout his career at Indian Oil, Sharma achieved notable milestones, including establishing India’s first hydrocracker Unit at Gujarat Refinery and setting up the Hydroprocessing lab and Resid Block at the R&D centre. With a forward-thinking approach towards advancing Indian Oil’s ventures in alternative energy, he led initiatives in hydrogen, gasification, solar, CO2 capture, and energy storage technologies.

Indian Oil R&D took to Facebook, stating, “Delighted to welcome Shri Alok Sharma as the new Director of #IndianOilRnD! His extensive experience and visionary leadership will propel our cutting-edge research & development initiatives to new heights. Onward to a brighter future of energy!.”
