Blinkit Pilots 10-Minute Ambulance Service to Enhance Urban Emergency Response

In a bold move to address critical delays in medical emergencies, Blinkit, the quick commerce platform known for its rapid delivery services, has launched a 10-minute ambulance initiative in select areas of Gurugram. This pilot project, operational from Thursday, marks a significant diversification for the company into healthcare logistics, aiming to bridge a longstanding gap in urban emergency response.
The service, accessible via the Blinkit app, promises fast and reliable medical aid through a fleet of ambulances equipped with essential life-saving equipment, including oxygen cylinders, AEDs, suction machines, and emergency medicines. Each vehicle is staffed with a paramedic, a duty assistant, and a trained driver to provide efficient, on-the-spot medical support. For added convenience, the ambulances also carry a wheelchair and a scoop stretcher to assist in patient transport.
Albinder Dhindsa, CEO of Blinkit, emphasized that the initiative is driven by a mission to offer timely medical assistance rather than profit. Starting with five ambulances in Gurugram, Blinkit has ambitious plans to expand the service across major cities in India over the next two years. “Our goal is to make quick, reliable medical aid accessible to everyone at an affordable cost,” Dhindsa explained.
This innovative approach to emergency care could transform urban healthcare, where delays in ambulance services often prove fatal. Despite the presence of private operators, timely access to well-equipped ambulances remains a persistent challenge in many Indian cities. Blinkit’s entry into the space signals a potential game-changer in reducing emergency response times.
