Bhuvnesh Kumar Assumes Charge as UIDAI CEO
In a significant administrative development, Bhuvnesh Kumar has taken over as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). His appointment was confirmed by an official release on Wednesday. Bhuvnesh, who is also serving as an Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), succeeds Amit Agrawal, who has been named the new pharma secretary.
“Bhuvnesh Kumar assumed charge as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) on Wednesday,” the official release stated.
Kumar brings with him a wealth of experience, having served in key positions at both the state and central levels. An Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer from the 1995 batch of the Uttar Pradesh cadre, he has a distinguished academic background. He graduated as a gold medalist from the National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra, reflecting his early promise as a scholar and leader.

At the Centre, Kumar previously held the post of Joint Secretary in MeitY, contributing significantly to various digital initiatives and policy-making processes. His tenure in Uttar Pradesh saw him occupy several critical roles, including Principal Secretary in the Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development, and Fisheries. Additionally, he has served as the Secretary of Finance, MSME, and Technical Education, as well as Divisional Commissioner in the Department of Land Revenue.
