Bold Innovations, Transformative Impact: Under 35 Entrepreneurs Shaping the Ecosystem
As India cements its position as one of the world’s fastest-growing economies, a new generation of young entrepreneurs is driving the nation’s ascent. These innovators are not only transforming industries but also pioneering new ideas, creating jobs, and shaping the future of the economy. The recently released 2024 Hurun India Under 35s list reflects this dynamic, featuring both heirs to corporate dynasties and first-time founders. Notable names include Alakh Pandey, Founder of the Edtech startup Physics Wallah, Nishanth KS of Pocket FM, Vidit Aatrey of Meesho, Tarun Mehta of Ather Energy, and Ghazal Alagh of Mamaearth.
The 2024 list highlights that each entrepreneur has built ventures valued at approximately $10 million. Meanwhile, the more seasoned Under-35s boast businesses valued at $50 million, with some reaching 100x those figures. Among the prominent names, there were Isha Ambani, Non-Executive Director at Reliance Retail, Akash Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Jio Infocomm, and Anjali Merchant, Director of Encore Healthcare, representing the new generation of corporate India.
Topping the list is Ankush Sachdeva, 31, Co-Founder of ShareChat, a New Delhi-based platform that caters to regional language users, securing millions of users and carving out a niche in India’s competitive social media landscape. Another key name is Neetish Sarda, founder of Smartworks, a fast-growing player in real estate and co-working spaces.
In the edtech space, Alakh Pandey, 32, founder of Physics Wallah, stands out as a first-generation entrepreneur. He transformed his startup into one of India’s most successful edtech brands by offering affordable, high-quality courses. Ghazal Alagh, 35, co-founder of Mamaearth, has established a strong presence with her skincare brand known for its toxin-free, natural products, becoming one of the fastest-growing brands in the industry.
In e-commerce, Rishi Raj Rathore of Arzooo and Raghav Bagai of Sociowash are also key players. Rathore is revolutionizing the retail sector by empowering small stores to compete with e-commerce giants, while Bagai’s Sociowash has become a go-to agency for brands seeking to strengthen their social media presence.
Unacademy co-founders Roman Saini and Hemesh Singh, both 33, are also listed. Their platform has grown into one of India’s largest online learning platforms, reflecting their mission to provide accessible education.
With entrepreneurs from 41 cities, first-generation founders make up a striking 82% of the Hurun list. Bengaluru and Mumbai lead with the most entrepreneurs, hosting 29 and 26, respectively. This list showcases the vibrancy and diversity of India’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.
