Binod Kumar Singh Appointed Uttar Pradesh’s New Cybercrime Chief
Binod Kumar Singh, an IPS officer from the 1994 batch, has been appointed as the Additional Director General (ADG) of Cybercrime in Uttar Pradesh, marking a significant move by the state government to strengthen its cyber defenses. Binod Kumar Singh brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having previously served as the ADG of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) under the Ministry of Home Affairs. His career highlights include crucial contributions to security operations throughout his tenure.
Singh has held several key positions, including ADG Security of Uttar Pradesh, where he oversaw VVIP protection, and Deputy Inspector General (DIG) at the National Security Guard (NSG), involved in critical counter-terrorism missions. His distinguished service has been recognized with prestigious awards such as the President’s Medal for Meritorious Service and the Police Medal for Gallantry.
A graduate of Hansraj College and the University of Delhi’s Faculty of Law, Singh also holds an M.Phil. in Defence and Strategic Studies from the University of Madras, reflecting his strong academic background. His appointment underscores Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s confidence in his ability to tackle the rising challenges of cybercrime in the state.
Recently, CM Adityanath launched 57 new cyber police stations across Uttar Pradesh as part of efforts to bolster the state’s cyber defenses. This initiative aims to ensure comprehensive coverage and swift responses to cyber incidents across all 75 districts.
