New Delhi: In a historic moment, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated the Samvid Gurukulam Girls Sainik School in Vrindavan, Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, marking the establishment of the first-ever all-girls Sainik School. The school, part of the initiative to set up 100 new Sainik Schools in collaboration with NGOs, private entities, and state government schools across all states and union territories, boasts an enrollment of approximately 870 students, contributing to the empowerment of women in the Armed Forces.

Speaking on the occasion, the Defence Minister described Samvid Gurukulam Girls Sainik School as a beacon of light for girls who aspire to join the Armed Forces and serve the motherland.

“Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Government has given women their rightful place in the Armed Forces, which was neglected for years. They have the right to protect the nation just like their male counterparts. It was a golden moment in the history of women empowerment when we approved the admission of girls to Sainik Schools. Today, our women are not only flying fighter jets, they are also securing the borders” said Rajnath Singh.

The initiative to establish 100 new Sainik Schools aligns with the goals of the National Education Policy 2020, which aims to provide quality education and diverse career opportunities, including military service. The collaboration between the public and private sectors in this venture reflects a joint commitment to nurturing responsible citizens and contributing to the nation’s development.

The inauguration ceremony, attended by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and state officials, marks a significant milestone in promoting education and gender inclusivity in the defense sector, echoing the government’s vision for a stronger and more diverse Armed Forces.
