Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has signed a strategic agreement with the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) to jointly develop India’s sovereign cloud ecosystem. The collaboration aims to create AI-enabled cloud platforms that comply with India’s data localisation requirements, enabling secure digitisation of public sector services.

Under the partnership, TCS and C-DAC will focus on building cloud infrastructure and services that rely on homegrown technology, reducing dependence on foreign cloud providers for critical government and enterprise applications. This initiative aligns with India’s broader push for digital sovereignty and self-reliance in technology, ensuring that sensitive data remains within national boundaries.

The collaboration will leverage advanced AI and cloud technologies to enhance efficiency, security, and scalability of public sector operations. By deploying indigenous solutions, the project seeks to strengthen the government’s capacity to deliver digital services while maintaining strict compliance with data protection regulations.

Officials from both organisations highlighted that the sovereign cloud ecosystem will support a range of applications, including e-governance, healthcare, education, and finance. The project is expected to accelerate the adoption of cloud-based services across government departments, fostering innovation and operational efficiency.

The initiative also underscores India’s growing focus on building domestic capabilities in emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and secure cloud computing. By combining TCS’s industry expertise with C-DAC’s research capabilities, the partnership aims to set a benchmark for secure, scalable, and compliant cloud infrastructure in the country.

This move represents a significant step in India’s technology strategy, supporting the government’s vision of a robust digital ecosystem powered by indigenous solutions. As public sector digitisation expands, the TCS-C-DAC collaboration is poised to play a pivotal role in advancing India’s sovereign cloud capabilities while safeguarding national data interests.
