A powerful new collaboration between global process-mining leader Celonis and the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Allahabad (IIIT-A) has resulted in the launch of India’s first academic research centre dedicated to digital transformation. Located on the IIIT-A campus in Prayagraj, this Celonis-IIIT-A Research Centre represents a pioneering initiative that blends academic rigour and real-world technological innovation.

The centre will focus on cutting-edge areas such as object-centric process mining, artificial intelligence-powered business optimization, and the application of these technologies in practical commercial environments. This strategic move aims to provide students and faculty with exposure to advanced AI and data-science tools, enabling them to solve genuine enterprise challenges through immersive, hands-on experiences. It also marks Celonis’s maiden academic venture in India, signalling a deepening commitment to nurturing local innovation and talent.

IIIT-A’s Director, Prof. Mukul Sharad Sutaone, emphasized that the centre aligns closely with the institution’s strength in Business Informatics. He noted that this partnership transforms academic research by embedding industry relevance at every stage, benefitting both process-intelligence scholarship and the employability of graduates. By leveraging Celonis’s expertise, the centre equips students to tackle real-world problems using enterprise-scale tools for AI and process data analysis.

From Celonis’s end, Tarun Shiva—Vice President of Celonis India—highlighted the centre as a milestone in the company’s India expansion strategy. It is a tangible expression of Celonis’s intent to foster co-innovation, bridge academia-industry gaps, and establish a sustainable ecosystem for digital transformation in India.
