The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi has announced the launch of a six-month Executive Program in Virtual and Augmented Reality, offered under its Continuing Education Program (CEP). The initiative is aimed at equipping professionals with the expertise needed to thrive in the rapidly expanding fields of AR and VR, which are now integral to industries such as healthcare, education, gaming, and retail.

The program comes at a critical time when the global AR and VR market is projected to grow from $22.12 billion in 2024 to $96.32 billion by 2029, driven by widespread adoption and increasing innovation investments. However, the demand for skilled professionals in this domain far outweighs the current supply. IIT Delhi’s program seeks to address this talent gap by providing advanced training and hands-on experience.

Participants in the program will benefit from a comprehensive curriculum comprising 10 modules that cover AR-VR development, immersive design, game creation, and prototyping. The course also emphasizes practical learning, offering hands-on training with industry-standard tools such as Unity, Unreal Engine, Adobe Photoshop, and After Effects. To cap off their learning, students will work on a real-world AR or VR application as part of a final capstone project.

The program is designed to be flexible, with live online sessions complemented by a one-day on-campus immersion at IIT Delhi. This format ensures that working professionals can seamlessly integrate the course into their schedules while gaining access to IIT Delhi’s academic resources.

Highlighting the program’s significance, Professor Charu Monga from IIT Delhi’s Department of Design stated, “AR and VR are transforming industries by creating exciting opportunities. This program is designed to help professionals stay at the forefront of these advancements.”

Graduates of the program will be well-prepared for roles such as AR/VR Designers, Game Developers, and Instructional Designers. By addressing the skills gap in these cutting-edge fields, IIT Delhi continues its mission of advancing technical education and supporting workforce development in emerging sectors.
