Himachal Pradesh CM Urges Google to Invest in AI-Driven Public Welfare Initiatives
In a move to harness digital technology and artificial intelligence for societal advancement, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has called on Google to invest in the state. The initiative aims to modernize public service delivery in agriculture, education, and other critical sectors. During a meeting with Google India Head Ashish Wattal, discussions centered on potential collaborations to enhance public services in the state, according to an official statement.
Proposed Collaborations Between Himachal Pradesh and Google
Empowering Citizens with a Digital Platform
The state government, in partnership with Google, plans to launch a “People Empowerment Platform” through the Labour and Employment Department. This platform will connect citizens with skilled service providers such as plumbers, electricians, and carpenters, streamlining access to services while promoting employment in the unorganized sector.
AI-Driven Public Service Enhancements
The integration of advanced technology into health, agriculture, education, and grievance redressal systems is a top priority. The Mukhyamantri Seva Sankalp Helpline-1100 will be upgraded with generative AI to deliver faster and more effective grievance resolutions, focusing on citizen satisfaction.
AI in Education: Pilot Projects Announced
To modernize education, AI-based teaching modules will be introduced as pilot projects in two government senior secondary schools. These modules are aimed at improving learning outcomes and bringing teaching practices in line with international standards.
Revolutionizing Agriculture and Disaster Management
Chief Minister Sukhu also emphasized the role of advanced technologies in agriculture and disaster preparedness. The partnership with Google seeks to develop accurate weather forecasting systems to minimize loss of life and property, enabling local administrations to plan and respond effectively during emergencies.
This collaboration reflects Himachal Pradesh’s commitment to leveraging technology for the public good, fostering employment, and modernizing governance across sectors.
