The Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City) has announced two landmark initiatives to revolutionize India’s financial technology landscape: the GIFT International Fintech Institute (IFI) and the GIFT International Fintech Innovation Hub (IFIH).

Backed by the Asian Development Bank, these programs aim to position GIFT City as a premier global fintech hub, focusing on talent development, entrepreneurship, and innovation.

Set to launch in January 2025, the GIFT IFI will offer industry-aligned training programs developed in collaboration with Ahmedabad University, IIT Gandhinagar, and the University of California, San Diego. These courses are designed to meet international standards, equipping professionals with critical skills for the financial sector.

Meanwhile, the GIFT IFIH, operated by leading accelerator Plug and Play, will support startups through mentorship, resources, and networking opportunities, with a particular emphasis on empowering women entrepreneurs and fostering diversity in the fintech space.

Highlighting the importance of bridging academia and industry, the initiatives also emphasize applied research and inclusivity to create a dynamic fintech ecosystem. Tapan Ray, Managing Director of GIFT City, noted that these efforts will reinforce India’s leadership in fintech innovation while driving economic and technological growth in financial services.
