Veeam announces a new integration with Palo Alto Networks to streamline security operations and deliver data resilience for customers

Veeam® Software has announced a strategic partnership with Palo Alto Networks, a global leader in cybersecurity, to enhance security operations and strengthen data resiliency.

In today’s digital world, ransomware attacks are increasingly targeting organizations, with 96% of these assaults focusing on backups, as highlighted in the Veeam 2024 Ransomware Trends Report. This alarming trend presents a critical challenge for IT and security leaders worldwide. Traditional security tools often fall short in large enterprises, resulting in a flood of alerts and time-consuming manual efforts for security teams.

To meet these challenges and growing customer demand, Veeam and Palo Alto Networks have joined forces to streamline, scale, and automate data monitoring and incident response. By integrating Palo Alto Networks’ AI-driven Security Operations Center (SOC) platform with Veeam’s leading data recovery solutions, enterprises can detect and respond to threats faster, ensuring the resilience of their critical backup data. The collaboration includes two new Veeam applications integrated with Palo Alto Networks’ Cortex XSIAM and Cortex XSOAR, utilizing a bidirectional API connection to monitor, detect, and address incidents affecting vital business data and backups.

This partnership underscores the need for an integrated approach to data backup protection and proactive cybersecurity. Veeam is the first partner to design a data collector, dashboards, and reports specifically for Palo Alto Networks’ Cortex XSIAM. The new Veeam app for Cortex XSIAM centralizes data from Veeam Backup & Replication™ and VeeamONE systems, providing a unified view of backup security. Meanwhile, the Veeam app for Cortex XSOAR enables continuous API queries and monitoring for significant security events and alarms.

“We are thrilled to collaborate with Veeam, empowering organizations to respond and react more quickly to threats facing their critical data,” said Pamela Cyr, VP of Technical Partnerships at Palo Alto Networks. “By combining the power of Palo Alto Networks industry-leading AI-driven SOC platform with data resilience capabilities from Veeam, we can help customers identify and respond to threats, ensuring the resilience of business-critical data. The new integration demonstrates our shared commitment to providing organizations with tools and technologies that help them proactively combat evolving cyber threats and strengthen their security posture.”

“Cyber threats are a reality for every single organization. It takes teamwork to fight this escalating battle against ransomware,” said Dave Russell, SVP of Strategy at Veeam. “We are excited to integrate with Palo Alto Networks to provide customers with capabilities to further strengthen their data resilience. This powerful integration allows our 550,000 customers to better protect their backups and respond to cyberattacks faster, tightening their security posture and ensuring reliable, rapid, and trusted recovery.”

By combining Veeam’s recovery expertise with Palo Alto Networks’ security operations technologies, this partnership ensures comprehensive protection across the NIST Cybersecurity Framework: Identify, Protect, Detect, Respond, and Recover.
