Tata Electronics appoints Bobby Mitra as CIO & President of AI & Digital Transformation

Tata Electronics appoints Bobby Mitra as its new Chief Information Officer (CIO) and President of AI and Digital Transformation. In this role, Mitra will spearhead enterprise-wide digital initiatives, focusing on AI-driven advancements across Tata Electronics’ key business sectors, including Electronic Manufacturing Services, Semiconductor Assembly and Test, Semiconductor Foundry, and Design Services.

Mitra and his team will be pivotal in driving the company’s push for AI-led manufacturing excellence, particularly in two landmark projects: establishing India’s first semiconductor Fab in Dholera, Gujarat, and setting up the nation’s first indigenous semiconductor assembly and test facility in Jagiroad, Assam.

Mitra said, “Tata Electronics is focused on deploying extensive use of automation, AI solutions, and digital platforms in its manufacturing facilities. I am looking forward to using my broad experience in the semiconductor industry to help shape the factories of the future at Tata Electronics.”

With a rich history in leading smart manufacturing and industrial systems globally for Texas Instruments, Mitra also served as President and Managing Director of Texas Instruments India. Most recently, he was Managing Director at Deloitte Consulting, where he guided manufacturing and supply chain advancements. A Fellow of the IEEE, Mitra also holds prominent industry roles, including Global Chair of SEMI Smart Manufacturing and past Chair of the India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA).

Mitra’s academia includes a B.Tech in Electronics and Electrical Communication Engineering and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from IIT Kharagpur, along with an Executive MBA from the University of Texas, Austin. His leadership is expected to significantly accelerate Tata Electronics’ AI and digital transformation journey, positioning the company as a leader in India’s evolving semiconductor ecosystem.
