Amazon India joins hands with Startup India, DPIIT to empower startups through e-comm

Amazon India has joined forces with Startup India, an initiative under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), to boost the growth of startups by leveraging e-commerce. The collaboration aims to help eligible startups access e-commerce opportunities through Amazon India’s marketplace, fostering their expansion into the domestic market.
As part of this partnership, a dedicated page on the Startup India portal will guide startups in registering on Amazon India’s platform. Startups will also benefit from mentorship by Amazon leaders, go-to-market support, and logistics guidance. Select women entrepreneurs will receive additional backing through Amazon’s Saheli programme, designed to empower women-led startups.
“By combining Amazon’s e-commerce expertise with Startup India’s role as the Government of India’s flagship initiative for the development of the startup ecosystem, we will provide a robust platform for Indian startups and businesses to scale domestically,” Sanjiv, Joint Secretary, DPIIT, said.
Amazon India will offer its full suite of services, including Amazon Pay, Amazon Incentives, Amazon Business, Amazon Transport, AWS, Amazon Advertising, and Mini TV, to assist startups, particularly those led by women.
Additionally, the partnership aims to raise awareness of the Bharat Startup Knowledge Access Registry (BHASKAR) initiative, a platform designed to centralize and enhance collaboration within India’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. BHASKAR will facilitate connections between startups, investors, mentors, service enablers, and government bodies, promoting a more streamlined and collaborative environment for innovation.
Startup India, established in 2016, is a flagship initiative of the Indian government that seeks to create a robust ecosystem for innovation and entrepreneurship across the country. Through this partnership with Amazon India, startups will gain vital tools to scale their operations and succeed in an increasingly digital marketplace.
