Telangana’s senior IAS officer Sabyasachi Ghosh promoted to apex scale, redesignated as Spl Chief Secretary
Sabyasachi Ghosh, IAS (1994 batch), has been elevated to the apex scale of the Indian Administrative Service (Level 17 in the Pay Matrix), effective immediately. Currently serving as Principal Secretary in the Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development & Fisheries, Ghosh will now assume the role of Special Chief Secretary within the same department.
Ghosh’s distinguished career is marked by key leadership roles and notable contributions in sectors such as infrastructure, sports, and industrial development. In the early years of his service, he held positions in various districts, including Warangal, Vizianagaram, West Godavari, and Karimnagar. Between 2000 and 2004, Ghosh served as the Special Officer for the National Games (2002) and the Afro-Asian Games (2003), where he oversaw major infrastructure projects like the Gachibowli Sports Complex and seven stadiums in Hyderabad.
His efforts in organizing these prestigious events earned widespread acclaim, positioning Hyderabad as a prominent venue for international sporting competitions. From 2004 to 2011, Ghosh took on leadership roles in the Tourism, Finance, and Sports Departments, successfully managing high-profile events such as the 2005 Asian Development Bank AGM and the 2007 Military World Games.
Ghosh was instrumental in the development of the Military World Games Village, further enhancing Hyderabad’s global standing. His tenure in the Industries and Commerce Department from 2011 to 2016, spanning both United Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, brought him recognition for his work in sectors such as Mining, MSMEs, Handlooms, and Textiles. During this time, he also served as Managing Director of the AP State Finance Corporation (Telangana).
Since 2017, Ghosh has served as Secretary/Principal Secretary of the Youth Services Department, where he spearheaded initiatives in skill development and employment promotion. He also chaired the Telangana Society for Training and Employment Promotion (TSTEP) and SETWIN, playing a pivotal role in enhancing youth employability.
A passionate sports enthusiast, Ghosh has represented India in international badminton tournaments and served as the inaugural President of the Telangana Athletics Association from 2014 to 2018. His expertise spans diverse fields, including IT, industries, commerce, sports, tourism, and skill development.
With this promotion, Ghosh is expected to continue driving critical initiatives that contribute to Telangana’s economic and social progress.
