Salesforce Foundations Upgrade: Free New Features for All
Salesforce has introduced a suite of new tools for its enterprise sales and service users, branded collectively as “Salesforce Foundations.” Although the name does not appear directly on the updated interface, users will see a redesigned left-hand menu featuring marketing and e-commerce tools. According to Kris Billmaier, Salesforce’s senior vice president of self-service and growth, these features will be offered on a freemium model, with users initially allowed up to 2,000 marketing campaigns per month.
The launch of Salesforce Foundations is part of the company’s broader strategy to promote its core applications—such as CRM, service, marketing, e-commerce, Tableau, and the Experience Platform—all powered by the Data Cloud. This integration allows users to develop autonomous bots on the upcoming Agentforce platform, which is expected to debut at Dreamforce later this month.
Agentforce will enable users to leverage Salesforce applications and create bots that assist with various tasks, drawing data from Salesforce’s core clouds. These bots will enhance self-service capabilities for both employees and customers.
Rebecca Wettemann, founder of the tech research firm Valoir, noted that enterprise users may eventually utilize Agentforce bots through chat interfaces, with Slack being a natural choice. The bots are expected to integrate with other enterprise tools outside of Salesforce, with early examples possibly emerging through the Salesforce-Workday partnership.
Additionally, Salesforce Foundations will provide access to free trials of partner tools from its app marketplace, giving partners the ability to use Salesforce’s generative AI bot-building engine without needing to develop their own solutions.
Billmaier highlighted that the concept for Salesforce Foundations evolved from the Salesforce Starter and Pro Suites, designed for small businesses. Enterprise users sought access to select marketing and e-commerce features without the complexity and cost of full-scale integrations.
Salesforce Foundations also simplifies data aggregation across its platform, providing administrators with more user-friendly tools to manage and integrate data.
