Indian Oil appoints Rashmi Govil as Director HR

New Delhi: Rashmi Govil has assumed the role of Director (Human Resources) at Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IndianOil), a leading energy company listed in the Fortune 500 and renowned for its extensive customer base in India. With close to thirty years of experience within IndianOil since her inception in 1994, Govil brings a wealth of expertise across various dimensions of human resources management. Holding an MBA specializing in HR and a Postgraduate Diploma in Finance, she previously held the position of Executive Director (HRD & Employee Relations) at the Corporate Office.

Govil’s professional journey includes significant roles at IndianOil’s Refineries Headquarters and navigating challenges at the Mathura Refinery Unit. Her extensive experience has honed her understanding of critical HR functions such as compensation and performance management, recruitment, policy formulation, succession planning, and systems management. Notably, she is recognized as an expert in Industrial Relations.

Known for her outcome-oriented, collaborative approach, Govil has spearheaded strategic initiatives both within IndianOil and the industry at large. She has been instrumental in establishing innovative platforms like ‘Srijan’ and overseeing the implementation of SAP solutions across HR functions. Additionally, she has played a pivotal role in negotiating significant agreements with unions, including long-term wage settlements.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Govil led the revision of numerous policies with a focus on fostering diversity, inclusion, and employee well-being. Her appointment as Director (HR) underscores her exceptional contributions to IndianOil and her forward-looking vision for the evolution of Human Resources within the energy sector. With this appointment, IndianOil now boasts two female Functional Directors on its Board, highlighting its commitment to gender diversity and leadership.
