Rajasthan Government Appoints Utkal Ranjan Sahoo as New Director General of Police
New Delhi: In a recent official statement released on February 10th, the Rajasthan government has named senior IPS officer Utkal Ranjan Sahoo as the state’s latest Director General of Police (DGP). Sahoo, a seasoned IPS officer from the 1988 batch, will serve a two-year term or until further notice.
Following the retirement of former DGP Umesh Mishra in December 2023, Officer Sahoo has stepped up to take on the mantle. Originating from Odisha, Sahoo ascended to the rank of DG in June 2020 after a stint as DG Home Guard for approximately 2.5 years.
Sahoo’s credentials for the DGP role were underscored by his adept organization of the conference of Director Generals and Inspector Generals in Jaipur. The event saw the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
