Walking with the Migrant beyond Covid-19 Pandemic : A Report by IGSSS & Caritas India

IGSSS (Indo Global Social Service Society) a non government organization working towards development, capacity building and enlighten of vulnerable communities recently organized one of its kind CSR roundtable where leading experts from the CSR community discussed on Walking with the Migrants beyond Covid-19 Pandemic 


IGSSS since its inception in 1960 has been very active in the areas of :

  • Urban Poverty Reduction
  • Disaster Risk Reduction
  • Gender Equity
  • Youth Development
  • Climate Change Adaption


The idea behind the roundtable discussion was to bring together thought leaders across the CSR fraternity to device policies to help craft a sustainable India and also to talk about the Report on Migrant workers prepared by IGSSS & Caritas India together. The plight of the migrant workers walking hunger, sufferings, blood stain and death of the thousands of kilometres to their homes carrying their children on the shoulders and their meager possession on their back, braving heat and hunger will haunt us for many years. 

The participants also discussed their company’s intervention areas for CSR and what their contribution towards a stronger, healthier, happier India. The discussion was moderated by Ms Taniya Tikoo Editor-in-Chief ObserveNow  and was joined by an array of participants like John Peter Nelson Executive Director IGSSS, Shikha Srivastava Director IGSSS, Saurabh Singh President ICICI Foundation, Nixon Joseph President & COO SBI Foundation, Rajeev Williams Head CSR Jindal Stainless, Rishi Pathania Head CSR UPL, Ramesh Sahijwani Head CSR Iffco-Tokio & Shilpa Jaiswal Head CSR Welspun.
