Netflix Cuts its prices over all platforms.

Online streaming platform; Netflix has slashed its subscription prices by upto 60% across all its plans. The mobile plan which earlier used to cost Rs.199 to consumers will now be available for Rs.149.

The Rs.199 plan was launched in January 2019 which received a great response from the users. It is the second time the OTT platform has slashed its prices in India.

The plan that allowed viewers to watch Netflix content across all platforms- mobile, TV, Computer, and tablet, will now cost Rs.199 compared to its earlier price of Rs.499. The plan with better video quality and 1080p resolution will now be available for Rs.499, which was for Rs.649 earlier. The most premium plan of the platform which was for Rs799 will be now priced at Rs.649, this plan has the best video quality of 4K + HDR.

It is reported that this price slash has been done keeping in mind steep competition faced by Netflix from its OTT rivals Amazon Prime and Disney Hotstar.

Mihir Shah, vice president and head of India at Media Partners Asia said, “The most meaningful reduction is the basic price plan which opens up the funnel for significant new customer growth. It will also mean that they will have to go deeper — local and more regional in their content."
