Indian Celebs who invested in startups

Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has stated that, since the beginning of Start-up India Initiative, 18,861 start-ups have been recognized by DPIIT. In May 2019 only, 814 start-ups have received recognition in India. This is more than 1 start-up every hour.

The Start-up India initiative has created an estimation of 187,004 direct jobs since its establishment in 2016, with the number of related indirect jobs taking the total tally to more than 560,000, the government has reported.

India is also at third place behind US and Britain in terms of the number of Start-ups.

·     Amitab Bacchan -Invested in a start-up named Ziddu, which is a cloud service provider. He invested a sum of $2.5lakh in 2015.

·     Deepika Padukone - Invested in Drum Foods International Pvt. Ltd, the maker of the yogurt brand Epigamia. The amount is not disclosed yet. She invested in the company on May 14, 2019.

·       Priyanka Chopra- Invested in the dating app, Bumble . She also became its brand ambassador. The amount has not been disclosed by her yet. She invested in the company in 2018.

·      Hrithik Roshan -Invested in fitness start-up Cure.Fit an amount of $878.2K (INR 6 Cr) in 2018.

·      Shilpa Shetty -Invested in The amount hasn’t been disclosed yet. She invested in the company in 2011.
