Global Icon & Local Leader : Decoding Narendra Modi

Undoubtedly, India’s recognition globally has changed significantly because of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. David Roth, CEO, The Store WPP (Asia) told Businesses Line that there is a distinctive change in Brand India.

There is no doubt Modi is a Global Icon but there’s more to that. Global Icon, yes, but Narendra Modi is also India’s local leader. Yesterday’s address to the nation is a classic example of this argument. In yesterday’s address, Modi talked about Global welfare, putting stress on Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, which means ‘The world is one family’.

This is no way hindered Modi’s concern about Indian laborers and small shop vendors. While announcing the economic package of Rs 20 lakh crore, Modi said that the package is for Laborers and Farmers of India who work irrespective of conditions and for the Middle Class who pay their tax on time and strengthen the nation.

The highlight was Modi talking about local shop vendors - The thela wala and small patri shops. Admiring their patience during this trying time, Modi encouraged them by saying every Indian misses these small shops around the corner.

This global icon who changed India’s image and talks about the world as a family is also concerned about India’s patri and thela shops.

It is noteworthy that Modi, whom many think as Gandhi in a new age after how he started and worked on the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan has also served the soldiers in trains at Railway station in mid-sixties and served the flood-affected people of Gujarat in 1967.

This is Narendra Modi for you - Global Icon and your Local Leader.
