All you need to know about India's lunar mission Chandrayaan-2

Chandrayaan-2 India’s ambitious space project is all set to touch the skies in July this year. With this space project, India will lay a foundation for many more space expeditions in the coming years.  

 

With this projectIndia will join the elite space club which has member countries like the US, UK, Russia and China. This certainly a big achievement for our country. 

 

ObserveNow brings to you all the facts related to Chandrayaan-2:

 

1-  Chandrayaan-2 is expected to launch between July9-16 this year. 

2-  The Chandrayaan-2 mission will see the GSLV Mk 3 carry three modules into space an orbiter, a rover and a lander. 

3-  The orbiter will be placed in the Moon’s orbit and the lender will land on the Moon’s surface. 

4-  The Rover will perform experiments on the lunar surface and will be controlled by ISRO(Indian Space Research Organization) controllers on Earth.

5-  Chandrayaan-2 comes 10 years after Chandrayaan-1, India’s first mission to Moon. 

6-  Chandrayaan-2 will collect soil samples from the moon and analyze them.

7-  Apart from this mission India is also planning a few other space missions. Gaangayaan which will be India’s first manned mission to moon. 

8-  Chandrayaan-2 is expected to land on the South Pole of the moon which is the less explored area of the Moon. 

9-  If landed successfully ISRO will get an opportunity to name that site on the moon.
