India in a critical position with rising COVID cases

India reports 1,61,736 new Covid-19 cases, 879 deaths in the last 24 hours. India's active Covid cases stand at 12,64,698, while 1,22,53,697 people have recovered from disease so far. Delhi has reported the highest surge in one day with over 13,000 cases. However, today's stats are seen as a 4.25 % drop compared to rising numbers seen in the last few days. A day after reporting the highest peak at 1,68,912 cases the numbers have seen a slight dip. The active cases overload was at its highest last year on 17trh September with 10,17,754 active cases and at its lowest on 12thFeb 2021 with 1,35,926 cases. 

Meanwhile, capital New Delhi has not announced any lockdown but has imposed serious restrictions to curb the rising cases. The new rules will stay in place till April 30, along with the earlier announced 10-pm-to-5-am night curfew include a ban on all types of social, political, sports, entertainment, academic, cultural and religious gatherings in Delhi. Only 50 people will be allowed to attend weddings and not more than 20 at funerals. Restaurants, bars and cinemas will operate at 50 per cent of their seating capacity. Buses and metros will also take only half as many people as they can seat. School and colleges remain shut.
